Snuggles with Mamah

It's been a long night waiting for the trick or treaters to come. So Mamah and Shiloh decided that the best course of action was to snuggle up and take an evening snooze.

Share with me?

Shiloh seems determined to share the Nylabone with Apollo, even if he has to sit on him for it.

Toys, toys, and more toys!

Shiloh loves playing with all of the toys around the house. He still has his puppy teeth and is teething, but, as long as he has toys to chew on, our fingers are spared. My boyfriend teases that I might be spoiling him...

But Shiloh and I disagree! A puppy needs his pile of toys!

Once he has played with each toy in his pile, it's time for a nap. Toys also make good pillows.

Sit Shiloh!

Shiloh is such a smartie! He has already learned to sit for treats like a good boy.

Hurricane Party

Hurricanes aren't fun and going potty outside... well it's hard to manage that with sustained winds and heavy rain, but the pups found a way to have fun inside. Here they are playing in the papasan...

Car rides and seat belts

Shiloh and I headed out to attend the Tysons Petsmart adoption event and represent the pit bull pups this afternoon. He's not quite big enough to jump into my SUV on his own yet so I had to lift him into the seat next to me. As soon as I sat down to turn on the car, Shiloh was wiggling and kissing his way into my lap. That's not the safest way to drive, so I fastened him into his puppy seat belt to keep him on his side of the car. He proceeded to give me the ever so cute puppy eyes for the rest of our drive. He is such a sweetie!

Meeting Shiloh

I met Shiloh last weekend at the Fair Lakes Petsmart. He was a brand new pit bull puppy that LDCRF had just rescued from a shelter in rural Virginia. He hopped off of the van and proceeded to kiss everyone he could reach. His tail was in constant motion and he was a ball of happiness and love. He quickly became one of my favorite pups!

Shiloh returned to the Fair Lakes Petsmart today to be one of our happy pit bull ambassadors.  As part of LDCRF’s celebration of Pit Bull Awareness Day, during October 26th-28th, each of our adoptable pit bull blends will come with their very own Bully Basket filled with toys, treats, a heart-warming bestseller “Wallace”, coupons, and a free training consult!

Of course, it is also the weekend before Halloween! So we simply HAD to dress all of the puppies up in awesome costumes. Shiloh covered my face in puppy kisses as I put on his super adorable gnome costume. His cuteness was just too much!

I didn't plan on bringing Shiloh home today, but I just couldn't seem to put him back on the van... He is just too sweet and loving... So my boyfriend graciously gave me the green light to bring home an extra foster dog. He couldn't say no to that face either!

We all jumped into the car and away we went to meet our pack of pups - a bossy terrier, a shy shepherd, a goofy pit bull, and our other foster, a senior chinese crested. Shiloh was instantly welcomed  by everyone and was soon playing with his foster siblings as if they had been friends forever.

He also found some toys of his own to play with! He loves squeaky toys and antlers.

This puppy is smart! He has not had one accident in the house and is already signaling when he needs to go potty outside!

He is also an awesome snuggle buddy and has been keeping me company on the couch while I write about what a sweet, lovable, adorable puppy he is...

I think I have a case of puppy love...

Shiloh is Trick or Treating for LDCRF!

Shiloh is Trick or Treating for Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation this Halloween!

The Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation (LDCRF) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that works hard to find homeless dogs and cats a new family. They rescue pets from the most unfortunate of circumstances, provide them with the medical care, food, love and compassion they need and deserve, and then bring them to adoption events to find homes. Some of the pets that find their way to LDCRF need extensive medical care, or wind up staying for an extended period of time before a home can be found. We know their lives are just as valuable, and they deserve a chance at a new life.

LDCRF is largely run by an army of volunteers who care about the animals, and know that a little love and hard work can make a big difference for a dog or cat. The organization has successfully found homes for over 18,000 dogs and cats since 2001. This includes puppies and kittens birthed in our care, ill or injured dogs or cats who need rehabilitation, and more recently, pets surrendered due to a family’s economic complications.

These dogs and cats do not need candy, or sugary goodies for Halloween this year. They don’t want the latest, greatest most fashionable costume (although they sure look cute in them!). They want to be adopted, and they need good medical care, food and shelter while they await their new home.

Your donation will go directly to the care of animals at LDCRF awaiting adoption and help us keep doing what we do, save lives! Donations can be made by check or credit card. Online donations can be made at www.lostdogrescue.org/trickortreat So please, this Halloween, give a homeless pet a real treat!
